Model shoot…

Filed under: Argentina, Buenos Aires, Photography, models — Capn Scott @ 1:43 pm

I bumped into this cute little Brazilian and just couldn’t resist. The Colombian girlfriend had finally shown her true colors and I had already moved on.

Maybe all of 5 feet tall…  Possibly 100lbs soaking wet…

She just loved having her picture taken.

Definitely a natural.

And, just an overall fun person to be with.

It was a bit difficult getting used to hearing her Argentinian spanish with a portuguese accent.

What a pretty girl…

But, she is on her way back to Brasil to be with family for Christmas…

And the old Capitan is left to fend for himself on yet another Christmas…  I’ve made it through 46 xmas holidays so far.  Will probably need to find another girlfriend.  It doesn’t seem to be very difficult to find them beautiful here in Buenos Aires…

Some great night shots of Buenos Aires…

Filed under: Argentina, Buenos Aires, Photography, architecture — Capn Scott @ 1:34 pm

Diego called and wanted to take photos of the building Congresso. Off we went, and in usual photography style, our best shots were not what we expected…

First, let’s start off with the HDR images…  these worked out really nice.  This is one of the fountains in the park in front of the Congress building.

And, of course, this is the fountain directly in front of the Congress building.  You can see the building in the background…

This is taken from the Plaza de Mayo.  Nice shot of the Obelisque.

This is an old hotel a bit down the way from the Plaza de Mayo.

A spire in front of the Plaza de Mayo.

The Plaza de Mayo…  Here, most of the demonstrations occur, on thursdays the survivors of lost ones gather, and this is the place that a country wept when Evita passed away.

This is the Cabildo in front of the Plaza de Mayo.

And, the main church in front of the Plaza de Mayo.

I moved the camera according to frame the moon in the right place.  This ended up leaving me a great perspective of the Pink House (Presidents Mansion).  A night that really surprised us with the pictures that were taken.  I will have to do this one again…

Cementerio de La Recoleta

Filed under: Argentina, Buenos Aires, Photography, architecture — Capn Scott @ 2:47 pm

My friend Diego returned from vacation. He is also a fellow photographer and just got a new Canon 40D (seeing one in my near future). And, he called me and said, “Let’s go shoot some pictures”. He told me we were going to the cemetery. Of course, I responded with, “hunh?”.

There was the typical stuff that you would expect at a cemetery.

But then, there were the statues that were absolutely incredible.

All unique, one of a kind, and you could see the incredible expressions and feel the emotions of them.

Many many angels, and all of them absolutely stunning. The tan walkway is actually the removable top of the tombs. The buildings are all just entries into the crypts.

For many of the soldiers, there were memorials to days of battles.

Statues of beautiful women, mourning for the lost.

Just Amazing. This is supposed to be one of the top 3 cementeries in the world. If this isn’t number one, I need to visit the others.

The patriotism in the art was really inspiring. And, typically, these statues are at least life size, many much larger than life.

Again, just incredible. Definitely worth another full day of picture taking. The cemetery is enormous and it would take several days to enjoy all of the architecture there.

Jardín Japonés in Buenos Aires, Argentina

Filed under: Argentina, Buenos Aires, Photography, landscape — Capn Scott @ 2:34 pm

Within a short walk of the Zoo, there is a small slice of paradise called Jardín Japonés. This is a very beautiful Japanese Garden right in the middle of the city.

It, of course, has a very Japanese feel and look to it.

And, it’s just a short walk from Plaza Italia.

There are many authentic Japanese symbols.

What would a Japanese Park be without hungry begging Coy???

I just want to ask the builder of this bridge one question, “Did you forget something?”.

Lots of really large boulders very nicely placed.

You can see that there was some serious design work done here. Pretty much everything is perfect. And everything is maintained immaculately. A pleasant walk in the park on a beautiful Sunday morning with the digital camera.

A day at the Zoo, here in Buenos Aires…

Filed under: Argentina, Buenos Aires, Everything — Capn Scott @ 5:38 pm

Yep… a day at the zoo. What I really like about this zoo is that many of the animals are not in cages. They roam about the general population. Nothing like seeing a peacock roaming around inside of the lunch stand, looking for handouts…

He didn’t pop full colors inside the lunch room, but wasn’t that far away…

This was a pretty cool shot, the kangaroo with joey…

This was a tough shot through the glass… tried alot of shots throught the glass, but the reflections were difficult.

Nice contrast with the black background…

And, again, nice contrast with the green background…

The pics of moms and babies were great…

I just love the wildness of this guys eyes… got alot of other great shots, but these guys move around a bit and most were out of focus…

Could have gotten this shot in Florida… All in all, not overly thrilled with the photos. Took over 1000 shots and only 75 were acceptable. Feel like I need another day at the zoo after what I’ve learned. Or maybe, I’m becoming one of those artsy fartsy excentrics… If so, someone shoot me please…
